dc.description.abstract	A partir da análise do desempenho acadêmico de 1000 estudantes matriculados no primeiro semestre dos cursos oferecidos pelo Centro Universitário Fecap, na capital de São Paulo, este trabalho estuda se fatores individuais como: qualidade da escola, medida pela nota no ENEM, gênero, estado civil, idade ao concluir o ensino básico e desempenhar atividade remunerada enquanto estuda são significantes ao predizer a probabilidade de evasão ou reprovação do indivíduo que ingressou no ensino superior. Por meio de um modelo probit buscou-se estimar, com base nas variáveis mencionadas, tal probabilidade e com os resultados verificou-se que, conjuntamente todas as variáveis são estatisticamente significantes para explicar a probabilidade de determinado indivíduo fracassar. Os resultados encontrados estão de acordo com a literatura disponível consultada e mostram que homens têm maior chance de fracassar do que as mulheres, que exercer atividade remunerada aumenta a chance de falhar no primeiro semestre do curso superior, que quanto menor a nota da escola no ENEM menor será a sua chance de Sucesso, adicionalmente todas estas variáveis são estatisticamente significantes isoladamente. A variável “estado civil” mostra que solteiros tem maior probabilidade de sucesso, apesar de não ter sido considerada isoladamente de forma estatisticamente significante. Estes fatores podem servir como indicador de atenção para dirigentes de IES atingidos por leis que determinam reserva de vagas nas IES para estudantes oriundos de escolas públicas.	pt_BR
dc.description.other	Based on the analysis of the academic performance of 1000 registered students in the first semester of courses offered by the University Center Fecap in São Paulo capital, this study examines if individual factors such as school quality, measured by the ENEM grade, gender, marital status, age at completing basic education and paid work while studying are significant in predicting the probability of dropout or failure of the individual who joined higher education. Through a probit model we attempted to estimate based on the mentioned variables such probability and the results verified that all the variables together are statistically significant for explaining the probability of a particular individual Failure. The results are in agreement with the available and consulted literature and show that men are more likely to fail than women, that engaging in remunerated activity increases the chance of failing in the first semester of college, that the lower the grade school in ENEM is the lower your chance of success will be, besides all these variables are statistically significant isolated. The variable marital status shows that singles are more likely to succeed, although it was not statistically significant isolated. These factors may serve as an indicator of attention to leaders of HEI affected by laws that determine reserved places in HEIs for students from public schools.	pt_BR
