A metodologia qualitativa
adequados, apresentam desempenho inferior.
This paper analyzes the profile of entrepreneurs in the Brazilian livestock chain. This sector is a globally prominent sector with significant production and sustainability challenges related to land use. The central objective is to understand how different profiles of livestock entrepreneurs, operating in different regions of Brazil, can explain how they address production, financial, and governance challenges. The study uses the Helfat and Peteraf (2015) model, which relates dynamic and managerial cognitive capabilities to business strategies, to understand whether there were distinctions between profiles. The research was conducted based on the Fazenda Nota 10 program, through semi-structured interviews with livestock farmers of different sizes, regions, and management models. The qualitative methodology allowed us to identify patterns and differences in cognitive capabilities. The results indicate that specific arrangements of these capabilities directly affect strategy and value creation in companies. It was observed that managers with a broader strategic vision and greater adaptive capacity are better able to align their practices with governance and profitability, while others, limited by cognitive gaps or a lack of prior experience or adequate incentives, perform worse. The conclusion is that strengthening managerial capabilities, combined with institutional support and coherent sectoral strategies, is crucial for sustainable development and long-term value creation in the Brazilian livestock industry.
