Inovação, cidades inteligentes e felicidade subjetiva no contexto urbano brasileiro: um estudo através do enquadramento teórico de Aghion et al (2016)

Abstract

Compreender os determinantes da felicidade e da qualidade de vida é uma tarefa fundamental para a tomada de decisão no ambiente urbano. As cidades, local da prática da vida são desafiadas cada vez mais a interagir com a tecnologia e buscar soluções para atender as necessidades da população. Este trabalho investiga como a inovação e competitividade, sintetizada pelo conceito de destruição criativa se relaciona com a qualidade de vida em cidades brasileiras, especialmente naquelas classificadas como inteligentes. A metodologia seguirá a proposta desenvolvida por Aghion (2016). Duas grupos de hipóteses foram testadas: primeiro, se assim como no caso americano, os dados corroboram a relação positiva entre destruição criativa e bem-estar; segundo, se as cidades inteligentes se sobressaem nesse aspecto. A primeira hipótese foi decomposta em três predições, seguindo alusão ao artigo de Aghion (2016) e obtivemos uma corroboração parcial de seus resultados. Os resultados da segunda hipótese também foram mistos com as cidades inteligentes tendo um efeito positivo na felicidade subjetiva, porém sem uma capacidade de potencializar os efeitos da destruição criativa.Understanding the determinants of happiness and quality of life is a fundamental task for decision-making in the urban environment. Cities, as the locus of life practice, are increasingly challenged to interact with technology and seek solutions to meet the population's needs. This study investigates how innovation and competitiveness, synthesized by the concept of creative destruction, relates to quality of life in Brazilian cities, especially those classified as smart cities. The methodology follows the framework developed by Aghion (2016). Two hypotheses groups were tested: first, whether, as in the American case, the data corroborate the positive relationship between creative destruction and well-being; second, whether smart cities stand out in this aspect. The first hypothesis was decomposed into three predictions, following the allusion to Aghion's (2016) article, and we obtained partial corroboration of its results. The results of the second hypothesis were also mixed, with smart cities having a positive effect on subjective happiness, but without the capacity to potentiate the effects of creative destruction.
