The global financial system has been transformed by technological advances and ever-changing consumption patterns, creating a favorable environment for the growth of companies that deliver financial products through technology, the so-called FinTechs. However, it is crucial that these companies raise funds to survive the first years of negative cash flow, so it becomes fundamental to understand the financing mechanisms and the factors that impact it to understand the progress of this market. In this paper, a statistical analysis was conducted using the survival model, analyzing 10,367 companies around 50 countries from 2015 to 2022 to better understand how country characteristics and the level of development of their markets contribute to the receipt of initial investments from Venture Capital and Private Equity. It was observed that a company founded in an emerging country, by more than one founder, with a high economic development index and less than three years of founding has higher chances of receiving its first VC/PE funding and, in the last three years, investment fund managers had a preference to invest in fewer companies, suggesting larger contributions per round.
